Hello everyone. The shows in London, Ky last weekend were sparsely attended but the crowd was enthusiastic. We did two shows under the threat of rain & wind all day but the fans spirit could not be quelled, even when it got very cold in the evening. The Shriner’s are going to soldier on with plans for next years show & have already asked if LC & LST would come back. Of course we are gonna go back to try to make up money for those kids. I don’t know if any of you have ever visited the Shriner’s hospital in Lexington, but I’m told it’s something that tears at the very fiber of one’s heart. If y’all get a chance to help these kids out, please give all you can.
Record news:
I had a long conversation with a lady at Airplay Direct. She was very helpful and patient while I was telling her I was at a loss to know how to use the information I had received since I had put the new record out. She informed me that our record was #41 all time, across all genres & that we were in very heady company. She asked me if I knew our record was sharing approximate chart position with The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard & Dolly Parton. Explaining that I had seen the charts but did not know how to interpret them, she seemed amazed that we had had over 1,800 downloads with no money spent for promotion, i.e. on the page itself or nothing other that Ashley & myself constantly mailing CD’s out to radio & trying to figure out what to do next. She says I need to get to marketing as fast as I can so as to not lose momentum on the record but that if I was doing this well with no money to spend, that I was doing great. It was holding in at an amazing #6 all-time on the Americana chart, which is how I listed the CD for the most part ,because outside of ”Pud’s Hangin” there wasn’t a lot of 5 string banjo on it …. anyway, I was an am thrilled at all this news but am still a long way from understanding all of what I need to do next. Thank you for your prayers & for calling you local radio stations.
Off this next weekend I’m doing radio liners today & shipping product to some stores.
All my East Kentucky fans, please be looking at some of your local convenience stores for the new CD. I made a deal with John Clark to distribute CD’s to some 15 convenience stores in the local Ashland area. Of course they can be bought at my sister’s store ‘Paddle Creek Marathon’ in Fort Gay, The Bank of Blaine & at Ferguson’s Market in Blaine. Mike Johnson is also carrying them for me at his store in Hitchen’s KY .Rudy Burchett also hooked me up with his boss Gobel for 20/25 more stores, so I am figuring out some of this distribution thing. The CD is available now on CD Baby as well as some of my older CD’s ‘Murder on Music Row’, ‘Songs from the Workbench’, etc. CD Baby says they will be avail @ itunes in the very near future to download individual tracks, the entire CD or whatever you like, so keep watching for that. of course all CD’s are available right here at www.larrycordle.com.
My next show is the America’s Best Bluegrass Gospel show & TV taping at the Paramount Theatre in Ashland, KY . Please come out if you can great lineup, Don Rigsby, The Isaacs, Melvin Goins, several others including yours truly. I hope you can make it out. I’ll close for now God bless to all ……. cord
