Trio
For over 20 years I’ve been performing shows at various Nashville songwriter venues and around the county with these 2 guys. They are not only my dearest friends, but a couple of the finest singers and songwriters on the planet and it is an honor to get to work the limited schedule I’m able to commit to with them. We always have fun and those shows are exciting for me. Let me tell you a bit about these fellows.
Carl Jackson is a world class banjo & guitar player who 1st went to work with Jim & Jesse and the Virginia Boys when he was 14 years old! After his stint with Jim & Jesse he went on to become a member on Glen Campbell’s great band in the 70’s performing on stages around the world and on Glen’s mega successful Good Time Hour show. Along the way he has managed to win 2 grammys one for 1990 bluegrass cd ‘Spring Training with former Seldom Scene lead singer John Starling. He picked his 2nd grammy up for his great Louvin Brother’s Tribute production, Livin’, Lovin’, Losin The Songs of the Louvin Brothers in 2004. Carl is a member of the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, and his talents as a producer, session musician & singer, as well as a hit songwriter are known far & wide. His songs have been recorded by Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Ricky Skaggs and Pam Tillis, Rhonda Vincent and Rebecca Lynn Howard to name a few.
Jerry Salley to quote Nashville’s Billboard magazine is “one of Music Row’s greatest veteran tunesmiths”. Jerry moved to Nashville from his native Chillicothe, OH in 1982 when only 22 years old! He has had multiple country/bluegrass and gospel hits over the last 30 years among them Reba McEntire’s smash, “I’m Gonna Take That Mountain”, John Anderson’s, “I Fell In The Water” and Wade Hayes’, “How Do You Sleep at Night”. Jerry is a 6 time Dove award nominee and won a Dove for his great song “His Strength is Perfect”, co-written & performed by Steven Curtis Chapman. In 2003 Jerry was named performance rights organization, SESAC’s songwriter of the year, at their annual songwriter award show, during CMA week in Nashville, TN. Jerry has performed on the David Letterman show, The Today Show, Regis & Kathy Lee Show & of course the world famous Grand Ole Opry. Along the way he has had cuts by Patty Loveless, Neal McCoy, Mark Chestnutt, Joe Nichols, Travis Tritt, Darrell Worley, The Whites and many others.
Audiences are offered a glimpse into the world of Nashville songwriting when Cordle, Jackson & Salley showcase their award winning, original material during an intimate set of music. Cordle, Jackson & Salley as songwriters have had songs on projects by a wide range of artists, whose combined sales would now exceed 100 million records.
