Larry Cordle was born and
raised on a small family farm in eastern Kentucky. At a
young age, he was introduced to bluegrass, country, and
gospel music by his great-grandfather. Cordle fondly
remembers this early influence by pointing out, “we

Gardner was born in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1961 and
grew up on a tobacco farm, just outside of town. Much of
his early experience in music came from Saturday night
jam sessions that were held at old barns and country
stores all around rural eastern NC. He started playing
guitar around age 10, but when he was 14, a family
friend took him to a festival where the Seldom Scene was
playing – when he heard Mike Auldridge playing Dobro he

Mike Anglin was born into a
musical family in Richmond, Kentucky on December 15,
1969. He grew up traveling to bluegrass festivals with
his parents, Betty and Matt Paul Wright. Mike received
his first bass at the age of 8 and when he was 15, began

Kristin Scott Benson grew up
in South Carolina, surrounded by a musical family. She
started playing mandolin and stepped on stage for the
first time at the age of five. After receiving a
much-anticipated banjo for Christmas when she was
thirteen, Kristin became enthralled with the instrument
and spent her teen years studying the playing of all the
